Visit London with the London College of Fashion
The second Friday at the London College of Fashion was the most pleasant sunny day I could imagine. It was luckily dedicated to on the field London visit; a great opportunity to visit fascinating places related to our studies and interests. We first went to the heart of Noting Hill and walk around Portobello Market, an attracting place for Saturday visits. We then visit the Museum of Brands and its Packaging Exhibition; we could notably see how society’s evolution is reflected by marketing/packaging/advertising, etc. We then headed ourselves to the Design Museum and on our way could admire the Tower Bridge and its surroundings. The Design Museum is an interesting museum celebrating contemporary designs and their role in our society. The museum currently counts three exhibits: Designs of the Year, Urban Africa and Sustainable Futures. Each exhibit reminds of the beauty and importance of new designs, the diversity of them including in cities, and the way of making our lives more future oriented and more durable thanks to them. We besides help prepared the opening of the night doing research and writing reports; it was most helpful to explore the museum.
My name is Veronique. Although I am part of the exciting FIT London Summer Abroad Program (AC424 for the initiated), I have a background and path a little different from other FIT selected students. I come from Geneva, Switzerland (yes, as my accent does not disguise: my first language is French), I have made my way to New York to be involved in my passion for fashion in what I consider the most fashionable city in the world. I have been studying Advertising and Marketing Communications for two years and I am proud to have been successful at it… after all English wasn’t my mother tongue. I have been amazed to study, learn and intern in New York; between my year-round Chanel PR internship last year and my future fall internship at Elle, I can say: I am definitely making my dream come true. Otherwise I have nurtured a love for partying (why do you think I love New York?) and travelling (I am a lucky European who has been been given the opportunity to travel all over the world). Despite all those “abroad” experiences, I can’t wait to be involved in a fashion internship in London with a great group of FIT students: I am looking for the most fulfilling month of my life.
